Blind slats have several applications:

• Resting surfaces for piglets in the farrowing, transition and wean-to-finish stages (all models) that isolate them from disturbing gases coming from the pits and draughts. They also insulate and are the ideal surface onto which to project radiant heat sources.
• Resting surface for sows in the farrowing quarters. Placed under the front of the farrowing cage they make for an ideal resting surface that is smooth and has a good grip, minimising shoulder ulcers and nipple damage problems.
• When placed under the hoppers and feeders, they help to collect wastage in cases of incorrect adjustment.
• They can be used to cover corridors used to channel air as part of the environmental control system.
