    FAQ's: PROCEREX® anti-processionary caterpillar strap

How to install the Procerex collar?

Follow the instructions that came with the collar. You must first assemble the collar with all the elements so that you can then install it.

The assembly time of the collar is about 2 minutes, depending on experience.

When installing the collar, you must place the soil of the surroundings in the collection bag, the soil works as a lure.

Advantages of the Procerex collar against the pine processionary

It is an easy system to mount in trees, without chemicals, pheromones or tree glues.

It can be reused for years, using the surrounding soil as the only bait to simulate a pleasant place where the caterpillars initiate diapause (resting state in the process of metamorphosis from caterpillar to adult).

Prevents the caterpillars from descending to the ground. Dual density foam adapts to the roughness of the tree trunk.

When should the collar be placed to prevent the descent of the pine processionary?

The usual period of use is from December to May, but it will depend on the weather.

    Do processionary collars use chemicals?

The Procerex collar does not require any chemicals or attractants for the processionary. It is a collar system that does not affect the life or morphology of the tree. Without chemical compounds.

What do I need to install the Procerex collar?

    • Large cutter or scissors
    • Hoe or the like (to smooth the bark)
    • Large stapler to adjust the plastic deflector (see video)
    • Marker pen
    • Measuring tape

What does the Procerex collar include?

    Each Procerex collar includes:

    • 1 special 145-cm transparent plastic deflector.
    • 2 strips of double density foam including 1 beveled half-corner
    • 1 belt tensioner
    • 3 plastic clips.
    • 1 downpipe for caterpillar decent.
    • 1 processionary collector bag.

What can I do if the collar fits small and does not go around the tree?

For trees with very wide trunks (more than 110 cm in perimeter), 2 collar extensions of 66 and 130 cm are sold.
