Quiet Pig is an enrichment material in the form of an edible block intended to prevent tail biting in finishing pigs, gestating sows, and weaned piglets.

Quiet Pig is designed for quick, easy installation and long-lasting durability.

Quiet Pig is available in three different formats, depending on the type of animal it is intended for:

• Quiet Pig Piglets: intended for weaned piglets. Available in different aromas: vanilla, red fruits, and citrus.
• Quiet Pig Finishing: intended especially for finishing pigs. Available in citrus aroma.
• Quiet Pig Finishing & Gestation: intended for gestating sows and finishing pigs. Available in vanilla and red fruit aromas.

Having different aromas allows you to provide new stimuli to animals. It is important to be able to keep the pigs' attention directed towards the enrichment materials that are being provided.

The sense of smell is very important in pigs, so discovering new aromas facilitates their entertainment and consequently reinforces the effect of Quiet Pig against possible tail biting outbreaks.

In the most complicated finishing situations, it is important to continually provide new stimuli. In these cases, it is recommended to alternate between Quiet Pig Finishing blocks (citrus aroma) and Quiet Pig Finishing & Gestation blocks available in vanilla and red fruit aromas.

Quiet Pig is intended to be used in all stages of pig production in which reducing animal aggression to prevent possible outbreaks of tail biting is essential (weaned piglets, finishing pigs, and gestating sows).

Choosing Quiet Pig is very simple:

• For weaned piglets, the Quiet Pig Piglets block should be used, which is specifically adapted to the needs of weaned piglets, both in terms of shape, size, and composition.
• For finishing pigs , it is recommended to start the finishing phase with Quiet Pig Finishing (citrus aroma). In the case of more complicated finishing situations, it is recommended to alternate between the citrus block (Quiet Pig Finishing) and the different aromas of the Quiet Pig Finishing & Gestation blocks (vanilla and red fruits).
• For gestating sows , both the Quiet Pig Finishing & Gestation blocks with the vanilla or red fruit aroma versions can be used, as well as the Quiet Pig Finishing blocks with citrus aroma.

The installation of the Quiet Pig blocks is easy and simple. They simply have to be hung from the ceiling, preferably by means of a chain.

• The block should be installed at a height slightly higher than the animal's snout.
• The use of a chain and carabiner is recommended to facilitate installation and block replacement.

• Quiet Pig Piglets: 1 block for 20-25 piglets
• Quiet Pig Finishing: 1 block for 12-15 finishing animals

When used under normal conditions and for the recommended number of animals, Quiet Pig blocks last approximately one month.

If the Quiet Pig blocks are stored, they can be stored for 24 months in their original packaging. Always keep in a dry, cool place, protected from light.

The use of different Quiet Pig blocks or their combination is highly recommended to ensure that animas continue to be interested in the enrichment material.

A good practice would consist of continuous observation of the pigs' interest in these enrichment materials. New blocks with different aromas should be provided quickly when a decrease in the animals' interest is observed or an increase in situations that may indicate a possible start of a tail biting outbreak.
